The Javea Bulls travelled to La Vila to participate in their 1st beach 5 a side tournament of the
summer. The event was held by La Vila Rugby club, with a total of 6 teams taking part (Vila
Rugby Club A, Vila Rugby Club B, Universitat d´Alacant, Akra Barbara, y El Yecla Rugby Club).
The Javea Bulls took advantage of the event to field 2 new players, as the beach is a good way
to get into Rugby and a natural progression for 15 a side which starts from September; however
the Bulls were 1st on the pitch and faced a strong La Vila Team, who are currently playing 1st
division Spanish rugby. Despite this, the Bulls defended ferociously and kept the game as close
as possible. La Vila took the victory, but not before the Bulls scored a try. The second game
was against Akra, by now the Bulls had found their rhythm and dominated the game from
kickoff. The 3rd game was against Alicante University, which proved to another tough game.
After lunch the Bulls played La Vila A again and kept the game much closer with some strong
defence and good moves, the 2nd game of the afternoon saw the Bulls play Alicante University
again. The team’s final game was against Akra, which put the Bulls in 3rd position from the 6
teams that took part. The final was between La Vila A and Alicante University, which will be
televised on Canal 9..

RUGBY CLUB APPEAL

In order to get the clubhouse up and running again as quickly as possible we are appealing to the local Javea community for certain services and supplies to be donated so that our Summer Sports Camp can go ahead in August. Materials such as breeze blocks, cement and general building supplies plus the supplies and services of carpenters and electricians are needed in order to get us back to normal as quick as possible.
